Gran Canaria is an island offering a whole host of routes for bike-tourism enthusiasts and anyone who loves to be in direct contact with nature. Whether you prefer hardcore descents or long distance cycling, your bike will make the perfect companion to visit indescribable landscapes.

The natural environment which the Island of Gran Canaria offers its inhabitants and visitors make it worthy of the name "miniature continent". There are endless alternatives for sport’s fans combining exercise with the pleasure of visiting leafy landscapes inland and spectacular coastal areas. The gentle climate which reigns throughout the Island all year is the perfect invitation to enjoy a wide variety of open air sports: trekking, rock climbing or bike routes are some of the best alternatives for tourists on the Island.

 

But very few people are aware of the central mountainous area, providing mountain biking paradise. Gran Canaria is a miniature continent with a privileged eco-system. It has 32 natural protected areas, 8 nature reserves and around 100 native plant species. In Gran Canaria you can witness the evolving flora – the island is as important for scientists in terms of botany as the Galapagos Islands is for zoology.

Due to its morphology, the island is mountainous with abrupt and spectacular landscapes. Both the mountain and road routes here are characterised by the almost complete absence of plains and the constant presence of stones due to its volcanic origin.

 

AGAETE

The northern part of Gran Canaria is a beautiful and picturesque area. Old cliffs stretching along the western coast, winding asphalt roads and suspended clouds at the tops of mountains are views that will remain long in the memory. Clean air, high humidity, constant temperature in the range 21-27C and good surface paved roads make the island a year-round paradise cycling.

In contrast to the southern coast of Gran Canaria, the northern part of the island is a place where you can relax from the daily hustle and bustle, you gain vital energy, and every day will be savoring the beautiful views, or their discoverer.

SECURITY
Each participant should take their own travel insurance on stay in Gran Canaria. We also ask for special attention in the mountains, not overtaking at the moment the lack of visibility across the street or reduce speed when gusty winds on descents in the mountains. In the case of a major accident or bicycle injury we provide transportation with the bicycle.

 

SPORTS FACILITIES
Agaete town has sports facilities. The cost of admission to a well-equipped gym and a swimming pool is only 2 euros without a time limit. You can also use the tennis courts or paddle. Cost of rent court for 2-4 people is 12 euros for 90 minutes.

 

WEATHER
The average temperature in the winter on Gran Canaria Agaete is approx. 18 degrees. The lowest temperature of the day is approx. 15 ° C, in turn, maximum approx. 21 ° C. January and February are only approx. 3 rainy days during the month.

 

APARTAMENTS:

For participants we prepared three apartments: ART HOUSE,  SUNNY HOUSE and PANORAMIC HOUSE

 

ART HOUSE:

Apartment for art lovers. The owner has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2015, and by the way a recognized painter. The apartment is a small art museum, has two balconies with beautiful views of the ocean and the mountains of Tenerife Park Tamadaba in the background. The house has two bedrooms with four beds and a separate living room with bathroom and kitchen. The house is Internet access (wi-fi) and satellite tv. The house is situated in a quiet location in the best residential area in the small fishing village of Agaete.

Residents of the apartment have access to the swimming pool at the nearby El Angosto (200 meters)

 

 

PANORAMIC HOUSE:

Newly renovated, modern apartment with a panoramic view of the ocean and mountain slopes park Tamadaba. The apartment is located next door to the home of the Poet. Here you can rest and relax after a hard workout. Tranquility and the best district Agaete - El Turman, it's something you dream about.
Nearby restaurants, natural swimming pools, beach, port, and grocery stores.
Apartment of 70 square meters offers modern, but Canarian-style interior of the three bedrooms, a bathroom, a large kitchen, a living room and a huge terrace. At disposal fully equipped kitchen, satellite tv, internet Wi-Fi, a spacious bathroom and three beds. bed first bedroom has a double bed measuring 140cm x 200cm. The second bedroom has a bed 90x200cm, which can be split into two places to sleep after 2 x 90cm wide. The third bedroom has a large double bed (180 cm x 200) cm. In the living room you can relax on the sofa or chair. On the partially covered rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills surrounded by the sea. On the terrace you will find refreshment at the outdoor shower.

 

SUNNY HOUSE:

Typical Spanish terraced house in a quiet neighborhood. Well-kept house, atmospheric and very sunny, located in the historic village of Agaete.

Only 100 meters to the larger supermarket Spar and 500 meters to the local beach and the harbor. 50 meters to the sports center (swimming pool, tennis, paddle, gym, fitness)

The house has a large, spacious bedroom with a double bed with a width of 180cm and two separate bedrooms with single beds. In the house are two bathrooms, one with shower and the other with bathtub, a spacious, fully equipped kitchen, sun terrace and "solana" with space for bicycles. The house is installed air conditioning, tv-sat well with Polish programs. At home, you can enjoy free internet access (wi-fi).

 

TRAININGS:

Trainings start at the sports complex in AGAETE (pool, gym, paddle), 50 meters from the SPAR on training days at 10:00.

On training, please bring your phone, spare inner tube, pump and a few Euro for a stop for a coffee or purchase drinks / food on the road. Please protect food habits before and during training. The terrain is very demanding in terms of strength.

During the first joint ride we explain logistically trip to the main road route and the special stages MTB. Participants will be divided into two groups by. stage of the condition. In addition to the common practice in the group, we provide training 1: 1 in the field MTB or on the road and in the gym under the supervision of an experienced coach.

For each of the groups (approx. 3-5 cars) is planned excursion up the mountain to the park Tamadaba. We provide access by car to the village Artenera where we carry out communal training with the accent on cycling technique (all approx. 3-4 hours MTB).

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF CAMP:

• Training techniques cycling 1: 1 for a group of bikes MTB, training in the south of the island (access by car) for group-road.
• Organized trip by car to the Tamadaba park with bicycles.
